Literary Tattoos

Last year, I ran across an interesting book titled The Word Made Flesh: Literary Tattoos from Bookworms Worldwide. As one might surmise from the title, the book shares pictures of literary tattoos on individuals ranging from English professors to PhD candidates to bookstore clerks…all bona fide book junkies.  Totally cool.

Many of these tattoos are beautifully creative: A sleeve tattoo with images from Kafka stories.  A line or two from a poem wrapped around an arm.  A picture of the Very Hungry Caterpillar (not kidding).

The book was highlighted in a story on NPR.

Cheers, Amy
