I realize that a lot of my posts have been dominated by new mom things lately…when you’re taking care of your first baby, it overwhelms your life. Even now, as I’m typing, I’m distracted by the hiccups and funny expressions of my little one month old son.
As a new mom, there are a few things that, for us, have turned into complete essentials. In fact, the thought of parenting without them strikes terror into my heart:
BabyLegs: Essential for keeping warm in a Colorado winter…yet totally easy to change a diaper with! We’ve grown to hate baby pants. Those cute little outfits are just a pain when you’re changing diapers every hour. But these guys stay in place throughout, making it a much easier process.
Kiddopotamus Swaddle: At one month old, Griffin is able to sleep through the night for stretches of 5 hours at a time. He’s fussy during the day, but our night routine seems to help him realize that it’s time to settle down and go to sleep. We swaddle him tightly, then I nurse to sleep in a low light, low volume environment. The few nights that we’ve gone without swaddling have been miserable stretches of constant discontent.
Calendula Diaper Rash Cream: It can’t be comfortable having a chafed tush. This stuff works better than anything else I’ve tried.
